Happy birthday Nathan. Knowing you brought a whole new meaning to the age-old adage "A friend in need is a friend indeed."

Friend is just a word but you give it a meaning.

May God Bless you

In episode 10, East Africa Today speaks with Mr. Nathan Chiume, a Financial Compliance Officer and Manager at Deutsche Bank. Mr. Chiume reflects on the key stories and narratives that shaped East Africa in 2012 and examines what storylines we should pay attention to in 2013. In the podcast we take a look at the areas of focus listed in the 'Foresight Africa: Top Priorities for the Continent in 2013' published by the Brookings Africa Growth Initiative. What's missing from the list of priorities? What under the radar stories should we focus on in East Africa? Mr. Chiume also talks about the discoveries of oil and gas in the region and addresses the fears that these types of discoveries risk pulling the region apart, with the Tanzania-Malawi diplomatic row as an example. Finally, as a strong advocate for diaspora issues and the role they play in Africa, Mr. Chiume talks about the Tanzania Constitutional Review Commission and why it seems that the Tanzania Diaspora have been largely ignored.
Mr. Chiume is a financial compliance expert with over 8 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, he was an analyst at Citigroup and later at Legg Mason asset management divisions. Despite spending the last 13 years in the United States, Mr. Chiume has remained highly engaged in the fast changing landscape in Africa. He is passionate about the continent's economic and political transformation and spends his spare time as an African analyst and advisor with a focus on Tanzania, Malawi and the entire Eastern and Southern Africa sub-regions.
